The Electoral Battle

“Prepare to fight with peace in your heart. Whether you enjoy pleasure or suffer pain, be at peace. Whether you advance, or are forced back, be at peace. ” (Bhagavad Gita)

Elections in India are a model to the entire world. It is important for us to play fair because the world is looking on. We are over a billion strong. We are outnumbered only by China, which still remains a closed political system. India, therefore, enjoys an enviable position on the global political stage.

The outcome of the elections should reflect the will of the people. Booth-capturing, bogus votes and other malpractices are a blot upon the snow white fabric of Indian democracy.

Let every one of us play by the rules. After all, “At the end of the game, the king and the pawn go into the same bag.”
